Venmo ft. Ffenmo, the Dutchman Who Wants You to Go Dutch With Venmo

HOW TO MAKE “PAYING UP” A FUN, intuitive SOCIAL EXPERIENCE

Venmo is awesome. I use it and everyone else I know uses it because it makes interpersonal commerce enjoyable. So when they came to us wanting a whacky, surreal campaign to make their service even more accessible to their younger userbase, we jumped on it.

Inspired by the colloquial term of “going Dutch”, we decided that the voice of Venmo should be that of a friendly Dutchman named Ffenmo. Because, of course it should.

Then, we set to work turning the most boring part of their business into something quintessentially “Venmo”, taking the dull FAQ page and turning it into a real-time social response platform of “Fantastically Answered Questions”. On Twitter, users would ask Ffenmo how to use Venmo and he would deliver answers with his outrageously Dutch personality, accompanied by MS Paint and Clipboard art and animation.
